Taking On October

There will be a lightness of posts this month due to my upcoming schedule of hither and yon, but I promise to tune in if I am allowed to share some of the truly awesome things that have been brewing backstage. (No, I don't have a cauldron for the occasion, but 'tis the season!) However, be sure to check back here for the YA Scavenger Hunt starting Wednesday, October 3rd at noon PST where I shall be part of BLUE TEAM featuring one of your clues, a surprise YA author, some exclusive content from her latest book and chances to win stuff! Can't wait? Want to learn more? You can always go here.

And if you miss me online, you're welcome to stop by any of these great events:

Find Your Voice, Rule The World

I'm going to leave this post for Friday because 10 Things We Learned From Last Night's Whedonlicious Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. post is ALL about "voice," which is the #1 thing writers aspire to. No matter what the work, what the genre, what the age category, what the medium, if you can hear the creator's trademark style that is unlike any other, then you know what you're in for and you know you've struck gold.

Go find your voice! Or get inspired by this amazing EW interview with Joss Whedon or this one about making sequels and grab yourself a quote to pin above your computer. Here's my pick:

I never wanted to take a job because I needed money, and I never have. I saved my money, so when I went, for instance, to The WB with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I said, “This is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you want something LIKE Buffy the Vampire Slayer, God bless, I’m outta here. If you want THIS, this is what I’m doing.” The one thing a creator can bring to the table when everybody else has all the money and power is a centeredness and the ability to walk away. Never sit at a table you can’t walk away from."

Or, as my favorite writing quote says:

"Keep Giving Them You Until You Is What They Want!" ~ Dennis Palumbo
